Buck’s Big and Bouncing Baby Manuscript

Now I know what 156,000 words, double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman, looks like.  In my role as Buck’s amateur editor, I’ve learned to emulate the late Dorothy Parker:

The first thing I do in the morning is brush my teeth and sharpen my tongue.

~ Dorothy Parker  (Thanks to Relief Journal for posting this on their Facebook page.)

This stack will skinny down another twenty or thirty thousand words, and be ready to send out into the world.

  1. Now, if you could just convince folks to pay for it by the pound, you wouldn’t have to edit those few thousand words! Buck could become one of those rare critters known as a “wealthy writer”! Maybe once hope and change kick in and the economy turns around…….

    1. Thanks, Deanna, but not so fast: in our editing session today, we realized that a whole chunk of Part III needs to be stripped of its indirect quotes (thank the heavenly stars above) and dropped back into Part II where the action will occur in real time. A passel of work, but improves the final product big-time. So, we’re not quite there yet, but that means I can go eat a Hershey Bar tonight and not gain an ounce. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by. What are you writing about today?
